Freshwater Pearl and Silver Waves Set

I got some wavy link stations this weekend from Silver Moon Beads.

I tried them out today with a simple and classic Freshwater Pearl combination.

Purple Punk

Decided to try and make something a bit younger and funkier looking. So came up with these purple and black earrings. I quite like them because I think they look a bit punky. Or is it just me?

IMT - Birds

Here is my response to the prompt "birds" at Inspire Me Thursday this week. I'm not very happy with how it turned out but as I spent so long on it, I decided to still post it here.
The bird is made up of lots of little feathers which I cut out of the painted paper above. It is a page of watercolour paper which I covered with brown, orange and gold washes. I've been making a few of these pages this weekend as possible backgrounds for artist trading cards (my new thing!). I really like the different shades, tones and patterns that form randomly when I make these.

After I'd cut all the little feather shapes out I stuck them all on to the bird I'd drawn. It took ages! I glued on a sequin for his eye and painted in his beak and feet.
I do like the bird its just the background I'm disappointed with, so perhaps if I think of a better idea I can cut him out and do another one.. any ideas?

Saltaire Festival

In September I showed some of my jewellery as part of the Saltaire Festival. The Russian Firebird Necklace was exhibited in the World Heritage Art Competition representing St Petersburg - which was very exciting for me and I was so proud to see it up there on display with lots of amazing paintings and photography.

I also had a stall in the craft fair which was held in the beautiful Victoria Hall. It is such a pleasure to take part in any event in Saltaire because it is a great place full with such an interesting history. I shall be there next in November for a Winter Warmer craft fair and again in December for the Christmas show.

The craft fair was without a doubt the best one I've ever taken part in. Everything for sale was locally made handicrafts from jewellery to cards, paintings, pottery, altered books & ties. There was a street festival, continental market and beer festival too. Lots of things going on over the weekend and I met loads of great people.

We were also treated to live music acts. I totally fell in love with the music of Paula Ryan. She is a very talented singer songwriter and a lovely lady. She is from Ireland and sang a song in Gaelic called "Havin' The Craic!" which was amazing. My new favourite song. http://www.myspace.com/paularyansingersongwriter

Looking forward to next year ..
