IMT - Medical Art

A painting for IMT this week based on a photograph I took in the British Museum of this Preserved Egyptian Man. Kind of related to medical art - I thought it was an interesting and unusual subject for a painting and I really liked the range of colours. Its not finished yet. I will add in some of the background. They reconstructed the grave pit in the museum with various items he may have been buried with - so I'll include those too eventually.

I've been really busy these last couple of weeks and have got a bit behind with IMT. I am working on something for the "Rescue, reuse and recycle" and "Envelope art" themes so I'll post when they are finished.

Best Wishes Everyone.

Team Harry Round Two (Revenge of the Hamsters)

Thank you everyone for your support of Team Harry in the Your Pet v My Pet. He won round one with 51% of the vote. Just snatching victory from the little pink paws of Honey the Hamster.
Almost beyond belief in round two he was up a against another ginger hamster called Honey! Poor boy - Harry is going to grow up with a serious complex about ginger hamsters!
Oh dear Harry lost out to Honey in the second round. Don't underestimate the power of the "caramel" hamster.

Good luck to Honey in the next round. She (?) is up against a dog called Baba who likes to lick the couch.

How we love our crazy pets.

IMT - Peace

The creative prompt at Inspire Me Thursday is "Peace". Celebrating 50 years of the peace symbol.

I wanted to make mine as happy and hippy as possible. I started by drawing the symbol on my cheek with eyeliner- (I don't know why, think I was trying to get into that whole festival thing).
I scanned and printed the photograph. Then I added lots of colour, various peace signs and words.

Healing Arts Journal

I just wanted to share with you The Healing Arts Journal by Catherine Whipple. Its all about art therapy and has lots of great art projects for you to download and fill in like the one above. This is a journal page all about what art means to me. There are also mandalas and colouring pages.
A good website which is definitely worth a visit.

How I kicked myself! Should have sent this photo instead. What a missed opportunity - we could have had an edible pets theme going on...
